Calendar Art!

Room one were given options and criteria for their calendar art. They had to include all four seasons, separate the paper into four somehow, a tree and their art must be painted; the rest was up to them. Check out how they did!

New Olympic Mottos!

As part of their Olympic study, Room One students had a go a creating a new Olympic motto. The current one is "Citius, Altius, Fortius" which translates to "Faster, Higher, Braver". The students had to complete a T-chart of 'plus and minus' points about the existing motto, create a new motto and then explain why their motto would be more fitting to the Olympics today. Let us know what you think!

Something a bit different...

I am trying out uploading the homework as a file on here (as the 'old' way was a bit lengthy!). Please click on the link and let me know if this weeks homework sheet appears and basically what you can and cannot do with it! Any feedback will be appreciated!

Lest We Forget!

We had such a beautiful and touching ANZAC ceremony under the flagpole on Tuesday morning! Room One paid tribute by creating mini poppies with heart felt messages, in the middle, to those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom! We put these onto a giant poppy, which contained a co-created class message to those who fought and continue to fight for all our different and shared nations. Room One are truly role-models in terms of how we show respect for others! This will be displayed in our classroom - feel free to pop in for a read!

Week Five

Wow! What a week we have had! Survivor was one of the best experiences of my teaching life I have had so far. Thank you to everyone who made this camp enjoyable and successful for the students of Room One.  It was great to see the students taking risks, learning new skills and learning what they are like as a person. Survivor helps us to be active participants in a real life situation, while also putting what we have learned about being a community and engaged citizens to the test. Everyone rose to the challenge and I am so proud – KA PAI ROOM ONE! Check out the celebration of learning page to see our follow up activities to camp (which are fantastically presented!).
